KAERA is pleased to launch a new Qualitative Inquiry Colloquium designed to support graduate students and early-career scholars in developing their identities as qualitative researchers.

Our inaugural speaker, Dr. Jeong-Hee Kim of Texas Tech University, will present “Narrative, Theory, and Becoming: Reflections on an Unforeseen Scholarly Journey,” sharing reflections on her intellectual and methodological journey as a qualitative researcher and on the theoretical and philosophical foundations that have shaped her scholarly work.

Dr. Kim is Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, a Fulbright Scholar, and Professor of Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education at Texas Tech University. A distinguished scholar in qualitative and narrative inquiry, she is the author of the award-winning Understanding Narrative Inquiry (SAGE, 2016), a widely recognized contribution to the field. Her newest book, Theoretical and Philosophical Foundations of Social Inquiry: Who’s Afraid of Theory? (SAGE, 2026), explores the theoretical and philosophical foundations that shape social inquiry and research.

The session will take place Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 5:00 PM PT / 7:00 PM CT / 8:00 PM ET / Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM Korea Standard Time, via Zoom.

Graduate students, early-career scholars, faculty, and anyone interested in qualitative inquiry are warmly welcome.
